Volunteer opportunities

We are always looking for people who are passionate about making a difference to get involved with our projects. No previous experience is necessary. If you would like to be part of the Edberts volunteer team, share your skills or get some work experience, please get in touch. Sharelle’s story:
Our Queen of Hearts found that panto was the foundation for a new passion…

“I was excited about being in the Edberts panto - I used to love drama when I was a kid but never really had the chance to do it as an adult. I’d struggled with depression and anxiety, and the panto was good for me – I think when you have mental health problems you act everyday anyways, but through being given a character and pretending to be them it helps you to forget your own problems.”

Through her performance in the panto, Sharelle was invited to work with a drama facilitator, helping teach drama in local schools, won a place on a Princes Trust performance course achieving her Bronze Arts Award, and secured a part in a Terry Pratchett play at the People’s Theatre in Newcastle.

“I loved the feeling of teamwork and everyone being involved – every week was something to look forward to, and I will never forget the overwhelming sense of pride in what we achieved.”
